Dobmeier Defends Northern Turf

Dobmeier Defends Northern Turf:

Norman County speedway was met with 36 of the best of the upper Midwest featuring the Bumper to Bumper IRA and the Buffalo Wild Wings King of the Wings NOSA Sprint Car Series.

Christopher Thram was fastest in hot laps and fastest in qualifying group A. Jake Neuman would be fastest in group B.

Heat races were won by Mark Dobmeier, Andy Pake, Laela Eisenschenk, and Jake Blackhurst. The dashes were won by Jake Neuman and Scotty Thiel.

The feature started with an anxious start when the 15 of Amelia Eisenschenk would spin on the breakout of the four wide, collecting the 87A. Both would take a trip to the work area and return to the tail of the field.

Thiel would begin the race with an early lead, having the rest of the field in a different zip code with Jake Blackhurst and Neuman would have to play catchup. Early in the race, the 85J of Logan Julien would make contact with the turn 2 tractor tire but we would keep the field green. Shortly after Julien’s contact with turn 2 tire, Goodno and Pake collide and Pake spin in 2

With only two laps in it would be 73, 3N, 96, 13, 22, and the 24T. Thiel would be looking for third win in the 2024 season. Dobmeier hunting down 96 as the top NOSA contender. Restart the field and Thiel would already have a commanding lead. Dobmeier would make the move for a podium spot with 16 to go.

Thiel would see lap traffic with 5 laps in the books until heartbreak would arise for the Big Wheel as he would plant his right rear tire over the cushion sending the 73 over the track bringing out a caution. It would be 3N, 13, 96, 24T, 22 top 5 on the restart

Jake Neuman and Dobmeier would lead the field to green - Blackhurst married to the bottom side trying to make it work once more time on the restart. Christopher Thram would pass Blackhurst for third at the flag stand, but Blackhurst would steal it back in turn 2. Schlafer would try to break into a top 5 finish as Dobmeier would close in on Jake Neuman with 10 to go.

Neuman would see traffic with only .7 seconds separating the 3N and 13 with 7 laps to go. Dobmeier would continue to close the gap between his 13 and the 3N of Neuman.

With 10 laps remaining, Dobmeier would use all the conjured up speed and rocket around Neuman in turns 3 and 4 taking the lead.

We would draw out a final caution
YELLOW in turn 2 for Colton Young. On that restart it would be the 13, 3N, 24T, 96, 25 top 5 with 8 laps to go. They would go three wide and Blackhurst would take third and begin to reel in Neuman. Behind them, Schlafer would battle for 5th

19 laps in goodno and Schlafer side by side and 5 to go for Dobmeier, Jade Hastings making an appearance in the rear view mirror of Schlafer.

3 to go for Dobmeier and Neuman would go over the cushion and slide back as the white flag would wave, surrendering second to Blackhurst. Checkered would wave for Dobmeier for night one of the Buffalo Wild Wings King of the Wings event. Jake Blackhurst second and Christopher Thram would round out the podium.

The action continues tomorrow night (Friday) and Saturday night as the two series battle at the River Cities Speedway. Watch the action live on FloRacing.
